Many native seed mixes are low in poundage per acre. The volume of seed mixes can be very low ranging from 4 LBS to 15 LBs per acre compared to turf or crop that ranges from 30 LBS to 50LBS per acre in volume. Vermiculite can be used as a filler in cases where bulking is desired. Fillers are sterile materials mixed with seed to bulk up the volume of the seed mix to ensure even spreading.
